Ryan smashed the brief from creative video games studio, Fire Without Smoke, who recently commissioned him to create a series of illustrations for Marauders’ Red Baron.
Marking the game’s first major content update since its Steam Early Access launch in October, Marauders’ ‘Red Baron’ update sees players take on the game’s first boss: the titular and legendary pilot. A dogfighting ace from the game’s Central Empire faction and an expert in both close-quarters battles and space flight combat, the Red Baron is a formidable foe who will test the skills of space pirates from across the galaxy.

The brief was to visualise this alien message with a silhouetted onlooker in a spartan night time landscape. Andy’s design was inspired by scenes from Contact, Arrival and Close Encounters.
