Ashley recently created two show-stopping designs which were used on an epic 52 metre long floor projection for the ‘North of Tyne, Under the Stars’ event.
The first design celebrates the tradition of hand painted banners for the old mining trade union branches in the North.
The second pays tribute to the title of the show and the Geordie word for home – Hyem.
Ash was recently commissioned to bring one of Newcastle’s oldest pub signs back to life.
Named after its original proprietor in 1778, Richard Swarley, this historic C18th building has now been restored to its former glory thanks to Ash’s sympathetic design & colour scheme.
In these photos, Ashley can be seen putting the finishing touches to a sign that he designed and painted for Channel 4’s ‘Love It or List It’ programme.
Alnwick Castle, film location for Harry Potter and Downton Abbey commissioned Ashley to design, paint and gild two mirrors for their newly refurbished Courtyard restaurant.
Our superb sign writer, Ashley Willerton designed this reimagined version of the Rocketman film poster & hand painted it live at the launch event of Newcastle’s new Everyman Cinema.
Ashley’s artwork was later auctioned on behalf of the Elton John AIDS foundation.
Ashley Willerton was asked by OFFF Conference Barcelona to design, paint & gild a bespoke glass sign over the course of the 3 day festival. This was to demonstrate the tools & techniques used in the all but forgotten craft of traditional sign painting & gilding. Great job Ash!
